The name PET is a great twist for the kids
but it actually stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate, which is a type of plastic found in beverage and food packaging such as soft drinks, juices and water bottles. That's why we have implemented a comprehensive recycling program to instil eco-consciousness in our students, homes and communities. Through this program, we aim to reduce plastic waste, conserve resources, and create a greener future.
SchoolPET is a non-profit social enterprise founded by parent company Re-Purpose.
We exist because “we believe that taking care of our planet is as important as getting a quality education”.
We aim to achieve the following objectives:
Environmental Education
We provide comprehensive education on the importance of plastic recycling and its long-term benefits. Our students learn about the environmental impact of waste and the critical role recycling plays in conserving resources, reducing pollution, and combating climate change.
Waste Reduction
By promoting recycling practices, we actively seek to reduce the amount of plastic ending up in landfill. We encourage waste reduction through thoughtful consumption choices, proper sorting, and the reuse of materials whenever possible.
Drop off point
The benefits of a well operated school recycling program go far beyond the actual school grounds, as the surrounding communities can benefit as well from drop off facilities. Sort plastic at home, put it into a bag and send it with your child.
Collaborations and Partnerships
We actively collaborate with the homes and parents, community organizations, and sustainability initiatives to strengthen our recycling efforts. By forging partnerships, we can access additional resources, share best practices, and broaden our impact beyond the school campus.
Hands-On
We believe in providing hands-on experiences that immerse students in the recycling process. From organizing recycling drives to participating in clean-up events, our students actively engage in activities that reinforce their understanding of recycling and motivate them to make a positive change.
